Medgar Evers College Offers Free Entrepreneurship Training Program to the Community and Students
The School of Business, in collaboration with the Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) Program at Medgar Evers College, is offering a free Entrepreneurship Training Program to the public. Orientation for the program is scheduled for Monday, November 8th, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at 1637 Bedford Avenue, Room 122.
The Program is funded by a Workforce Development Initiative (WDI) grant from the City University of New York (CUNY) and was designed to address the disproportionately high unemployment levels among Blacks and Hispanics in Central Brooklyn through the creation and support of sustainable career pathways for aspiring and existing Black and Hispanic entrepreneurs through entrepreneurship training and support services.
“We’re very excited about this Entrepreneurship Initiative and believe that it will open doors for entrepreneurs in Central Brooklyn that were previously closed to them through lack of training or support,” stated John L. Graham, Acting Dean of the School of Business at Medgar Evers College; “This is a huge win for the community.”
The Program will run from November 2010 through June 2011 and includes 12 modules of expert training in entrepreneurship; support in developing and refining a business plan; business workshops offered by the Business Outreach Center (BOC); a Networking Event and Marketing Day facilitated by the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce (CACCI); mentorship support by successful entrepreneurs, and more.
